The Garnacha Tintorera and Monastrell grapes come from vineyards in the Almansa area, which are located between 700 and 1000 meters above sea level and grow on sandy soils with a high concentration of limestone. After harvesting, the grapes were fermented separately in stainless steel tanks. The alcoholic fermentation took place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. After malolactic fermentation and a short time in French barriques, depending on the characteristics of the vintage, the wine remained in stainless steel tanks until bottling. Bodegas Atalaya is a project of the Gil family, which has teamed up with the López family from El Pilar de la Horadada, located in the east of the Albacete province. The first vintage was harvested in 2007. Since then, progress has been made in terms of facilities and research into the production of the Monastrell and Garnacha Tintonera grape varieties, which today reflect the character and personality of the area.
