How do supermarket coupons and vouchers work in Switzerland?
You activate digital coupons in the retailer's app (Migros, Coop, Denner, Lidl), then they are redeemed automatically at checkout once the conditions are met. At Migros you collect 1 Cumulus point per franc and get a CHF 5 voucher (Bon) automatically every 500 points. At Coop, 100 Superpoints equal CHF 1, per coop.ch and migros.ch as of June 2026.

As of June 2026. Coupons, vouchers and loyalty points are as much a part of Swiss food retail as the weekly Aktionen themselves. But every retailer has its own rules, and not every discount is as big as it looks. This page explains, neutrally, how digital coupons work at Migros, Coop, Denner and Lidl, what they really save you, and where to find them. Rappn has no agreement with any retailer: we aggregate the live offers across all chains so you can compare before you clip.
Which loyalty and coupon programmes exist in Switzerland?
The two big programmes are Cumulus from Migros and Supercard from Coop. Both work similarly: you earn 1 point per franc spent, and 100 points are worth roughly CHF 1 (per moneyland.ch, June 2026). At Migros, 500 Cumulus points are automatically converted into a CHF 5 voucher (Bon) that you redeem on your next shop (per migros.ch). At Coop you collect Superpoints, which you redeem for vouchers or use to pay directly, at a rate of 1 centime per point (per coop.ch).
| Retailer | Programme | Earning | Value / redemption |
|---|---|---|---|
| Migros | Cumulus (free) | 1 point per CHF 1 | 500 points = CHF 5 voucher (automatic) |
| Coop | Supercard (free) | 1 Superpoint per CHF 1 | 100 points = CHF 1, can also pay with points |
| Denner | Denner app (offers) | no points scheme | offers, offer alarm, coupons |
| Lidl | Lidl Plus (free) | 1 point per CHF 1 | coupons, vouchers, free items |
| Aldi | none | no scheme | low prices, no card |
One thing to know: Denner is a Migros subsidiary, but because of a ruling by the Swiss Competition Commission (Weko) it does not take part in the Cumulus programme (per reporting and migros.ch). Aldi deliberately skips a loyalty card and relies on permanently low prices. Aligro and Otto's do not run a classic coupon app; there it is the shelf offers that count.
How do I activate and combine digital coupons?
The flow at Migros, Coop and Lidl is essentially the same. You open the app, activate the personalised coupons (for example 20% off a category, CHF 10 off, or 5x points), and the benefit loads onto your card. At the till you show your Cumulus or Supercard, and the activated coupons are redeemed automatically once the conditions are met (per migros.ch and coop.ch, June 2026). You can leave the paper version at home.
On combining: personalised coupons are often tied to specific products or minimum spends, and each coupon carries its own conditions. At Migros, the paper and digital version of the same voucher are not valid twice; redeeming one invalidates the other (per migros.ch). So do not count on stacked maximum discounts; read the condition on each individual coupon. Multiplier coupons (such as 5x points) are often worth more than small percent-off offers because they apply to your whole basket.
How much do coupons really save?
Loyalty points alone return roughly 1% of your spend (100 points = CHF 1 at one point per franc). The real difference comes from personalised coupons and the weekly offers, not from collecting points. A 20% coupon on something you would buy anyway beats any points credit. The expensive mistake is buying something because of a coupon when it is fundamentally cheaper elsewhere. This is exactly where a neutral comparison helps: check the unit price first, then the coupon. More on this under unit price on Swiss tags and in the direct Migros vs Coop price comparison.
A quick practical tip: activate every coupon in the app before you leave home, because a coupon that was not activated usually cannot be applied at the till afterwards. Keep an eye on expiry dates, and use vouchers in good time, as they lapse.
Coupons are only one piece. Your biggest lever is comparing the unit price across chains before you clip. Rappn shows you the live offers from Migros, Coop, Aldi, Lidl, Denner, Aligro and Otto's in one place, 100% free and with no agreement with any retailer.
See it live in Rappn: compare the product neutrally across all seven chains first, then activate the matching coupon in the retailer's app, and buy where the real price is lowest. That way you save twice, on the base price and on the coupon. Compare with Rappn now, before you clip.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I activate digital coupons at Migros and Coop?
You activate personalised coupons in the Migros app or the Coop Supercard app. The benefit loads onto your Cumulus or Supercard and is redeemed automatically at checkout once the conditions are met (per migros.ch and coop.ch, as of June 2026).
How much is a Cumulus or Superpoint worth?
In both programmes you earn 1 point per franc spent, and 100 points are worth roughly CHF 1. At Migros, 500 points are automatically turned into a CHF 5 voucher; at Coop you can also pay directly with Superpoints (per moneyland.ch and coop.ch).
Can I combine paper and digital coupons?
Different coupons can add up if their conditions allow it. At Migros, however, the paper and digital version of the same voucher are not valid twice; redeeming one invalidates the other (per migros.ch). Always read the condition on each individual coupon.
Does Denner have a Cumulus programme?
No. Denner is a Migros subsidiary, but because of a Swiss Competition Commission ruling it does not take part in Cumulus. The Denner app instead offers promotions, an offer alarm and coupons.
Does Rappn help me with couponing?
Rappn neutrally shows the live offers of all seven chains in one place. So you compare the real price first and then activate the matching coupon in the retailer's app, instead of overspending just to use a coupon.
