Description

This red wine from Mastroberardino is an exemplary expression of the Aglianico di Taurasi grape variety. It represents the history and culture of Irpinian viticulture. Vintage after vintage, without ever disappointing expectations, the Taurasi from Mastroberardino preserves the energetic personality and full-bodied structure that have made it famous all over the world. It was obtained from 100% pure Aglianico grapes, cultivated within the estate boundaries of the Montemarano winery, growing with a south-eastern exposure on clay soil, with vines having an average age of approx. 20 years. The harvest was manual and, following the classic red wine method with long maceration on the skins at a controlled temperature, the wine was aged for 24 months in barriques. 24 further months of refinement in the bottle. The Mastroberardino family has been settled in the Campania region since the 18th century. The first traces lead back to the Bourbon land registry, when the family chose the village of Atripalda as their seat, where the ancient wine cellars are still located today. Since then, 10! generations have managed the family business. The family's vineyards are located in Irpinia, the cradle of three DOCGs: Greco di Tufo, Fiano di Avellino and Taurasi, which are distributed in different areas of the territory, with the aim of preserving the identity and ensuring first the protection, then the continuity and development of autochthonous viticulture. In addition, it should be said that the Mastroberardino family has been recognized in Italian vitenology as masters of the native grape varieties of Irpinia and Campania.
