Almirez
Almirez is a Spanish red wine whose grapes have adapted perfectly to the climate and soil. The vines, which are between 15 and 65 years old, grow at about 750-850 m above sea level on an area of over 40 hectares in Valdefinjas and Toro. The wine is processed in a traditional way. First, the Tempranillo grapes are destemmed, then malolactic fermentation takes place in oak barrels. The wine matures for 12 months in barriques, 30% of which are new French oak barrels. The winemaker François Lurton is also called a pioneer in the cultivation of Malbec grapes. After a great research trip, he opted for the vineyard in the Uco Valley and founded the Bodega Piedra Negra. The location was still completely unexplored and happened to lead through the Chacayes area, the place after which François named his first great vintage. In this wild land, he built a winery that not only respects nature but also produces special and remarkable wines.
