Description

This red wine from Spain from Bodegas Tridente was named after the mountain of the same name from which its grapes come. The Rejón is the oldest and best vineyard of the winery, whose vines have an average age of over 100 years and provide only a very low yield. After the harvest, the Tempranillo grapes were macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks at 25°C for 20-25 days. The malolactic fermentation and the subsequent maturation process in French oak barrels lasted 20 months. After this long waiting time, the result is impressive. The Rejón appears in the glass in a wonderful garnet red color and smells intensely of ripe black fruits such as blackberry and plum, underscored by a slightly mineral note. In terms of taste, this fleshy drop convinces with its excellent structure and the abundant tannins, through its balance and a long and slightly sweet finish. A good choice, combined with a roast lamb or a beef fillet. The Tridente winery is located in Villanueva, approx. 30 km south of Zamora, in the so-called land of wine. The small winery produces a small amount of red grapes, mainly of the Tinta de Toro variety, which is native there. Rejón is the oldest vineyard of the Bodega Tridente and its name is also a synonym for the best Tempranillo grapes in the city of El Pego. The vines are planted on gravel and some are up to 130 years old. The vines have one property: only a very small amount of grapes can be harvested. This quality wine is therefore produced in limited quantities.
