Château de Cathalogne is owned by the Despagne family. The vineyard where the strong, fruity red wine is produced is located in the Entre-Deux-Mers region. This area lies between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers up to the Gironde estuary. Thanks to the two rivers, the vines are not affected by temperature fluctuations; these natural conditions are very favorable for viticulture. The terrain of Château de Cathalogne consists of clay, sand, and mud, which is ideal for growing Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. The Despagne family is very committed to winemaking; to produce a high-quality wine, they signed the "Charter of Quality and Integrated Farm Management, Sustainable Viticulture" in 1997 and were officially certified. Since then, their work has been rewarded with numerous prizes.
