Bodegas Atalaya
The Garnacha Tintonera and Monastrell grapes used for the production of Atalaya del Camino come from vineyards in the Almansa area, which is located at an altitude between 700 and 1000 meters above sea level. The grapes grow on sandy soil with a high concentration of limestone. The fermentation process of the grapes takes place separately in steel tanks for about 20 days at a controlled temperature of 25°C. Afterwards, the wine matures for 12 months in French barriques. Bodegas Atalaya is a project of the Gil family, which has partnered with the López family from El Pilar de la Horadada, located in the east of the Albacete province. The first vintage was harvested in 2007. Since then, much progress has been made regarding the facilities and research for the production of the Monastrell and Garnacha Tintonera grape varieties, which today reflect the character and personality of the territory.
