El Nido
The first steps of this winery began to bear fruit at the end of 2001, as a result of the cooperation agreement between the Gil family and Chris Ringland, one of the best Australian oenologists. The first harvest that was marketed is that of the 2002 vintage under the brands El Nido and Clío. The winery is located in the valley of Aragona, 10 km north of the city of Jumilla. The vineyards, which are located in the vicinity of the winery, are mostly laid out on very calcareous and stony soils between 700 and 850 m above sea level. The grapes from which the El Nido is made come from 12 hectares of Cabernet-Sauvignon vineyards and 32 hectares of very old Monastrell vineyards with very low yield.
