Montecastro
Montecastro is a very aromatic wine made from the famous Spanish grape variety, Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), and Cabernet Sauvignon. After harvesting, 80% of the grapes are destemmed, while 20% are processed with the stems. Cold maceration lasts 24 days. The wine then matures for 5 months in French oak barrels, followed by another 12 months of aging in used French barriques aged 2-3 years. The Montecastro winery was born from the union of a group of friends who, out of pure passion, had the idea in 2000 to plant vineyards in the heart of the Ribera del Duero and produce quality wines. In 2002, their vision was realized. Help and support were provided by winemaker Betrand Erhard, who immediately understood the philosophy of the project. 27 hectares of vineyards were planted, and at the same time, the winery was built. In 2012, Bodegas Hacienda Monasterio bought shares and invested in technical equipment and commercial management.
