Grocery deals in Zurich this week: all seven supermarket chains in canton ZH at a glance

Updated regularly. Zurich has weekly promotions running in parallel at Migros, Coop, Denner, Aldi Suisse, Lidl, Aligro and Otto's. All seven chains are present in the city or right on its edge, and since February 2026 the big promo weeks all start on Thursday. The actual offers in canton Zurich are live and pre-filtered to ZH in the Rappn app.

Sources checked regularly: stadt-zuerich.ch (food markets), corporate.migros.ch and denner.ch (promo start moved to Thursday, February 2026), coop.ch, foodaktuell.ch, aldi-suisse.ch, lidl.ch, aligro.ch and ottos.ch. This week's exact prices are live in the Rappn app, not in this guide.

Rappn is the only neutral grocery price comparison app in Switzerland, with no commercial agreements with any retailer.

Which supermarkets run deals in Zurich?

Zurich is Switzerland's biggest grocery market, and all seven chains that Rappn compares operate here. In practice that means seven promo flyers compete for your basket every single week, more than in any other Swiss city. For newcomers and expats this is good news: even in an expensive city, there is almost always a deal running on what you need.

ChainPresence in ZurichNew deals
MigrosNumerous stores across city and canton, run by its own regional cooperative, Migros ZürichThursday to Wednesday
CoopNumerous stores across city and cantonThursday to Wednesday, plus Week-start Hits on Monday
DennerMany small neighbourhood stores, headquartered in ZurichThursday to Wednesday
Aldi SuisseSeveral city stores, many more across the cantonMonday and Thursday
LidlSeveral city stores, many more across the cantonusually Thursday
AligroWholesale-style market in Schlieren, right on the city borderrotating promo periods
Otto'sStores in Oerlikon, Altstetten and several more canton locationsrotating clearance lots

Two local quirks are worth knowing. Denner, Switzerland's biggest grocery discounter by store network, is actually headquartered in Zurich and fills the gaps between the big supermarkets with small neighbourhood shops (source: denner.ch). And Aligro, a family-run wholesaler from western Switzerland with 14 markets, opened its first German-speaking location in Schlieren. It is explicitly open to private shoppers without any trade card, and it shines for bulk buys and fresh food (source: aligro.ch).

Since February 2026, Thursday is deals day in Zurich

The weekly rhythm changed recently. Coop moved its promo week from Tuesday to Thursday back in early 2025 (source: coop.ch, foodaktuell.ch). Migros and Denner followed on 5 February 2026: their weekly promotions now also start on Thursday and run to Wednesday of the following week, and the Migros magazine now lands in letterboxes on Wednesday (source: corporate.migros.ch, denner.ch).

For shopping in Zurich this means the offers at Migros, Coop and Denner all switch on Thursday morning. Aldi Suisse adds a second refresh on Monday, and Lidl usually rotates on Thursday as well (source: aldi-suisse.ch, lidl.ch). Shopping on Wednesday catches the last day of the outgoing promo week, which can pay off if an item is still in stock.

Regional flyer editions: why Zurich does not see the same deals as everyone

A point that confuses many shoppers: not every promotion applies across the whole of Switzerland. Migros currently consists of ten regional cooperatives, and Zurich has its own, the Genossenschaft Migros Zürich. Some promotions run nationwide, others can differ by cooperative or even by store (source: corporate.migros.ch). The flyer you see in Zurich is the Zurich edition, and it is not necessarily identical to the one in Bern or Geneva.

Coop is simpler, as it has long been a single national cooperative with one promo rhythm. Denner, Aldi Suisse and Lidl also run their weekly deals largely nationally. This regional patchwork is exactly why people search for chain plus town. The more reliable route is a canton filter, which shows only the offers that actually apply where you shop.

Weekly markets as a complement: Bürkliplatz, Helvetiaplatz, Oerlikon

Beyond the supermarket promos, Zurich runs a dense network of weekly food markets (source: stadt-zuerich.ch):

  • Tuesday and Friday, 6 to 11 a.m.: Stadthausanlage next to Bürkliplatz (the well-known Bürklimäärt), Helvetiaplatz and Milchbuckstrasse
  • Wednesday and Saturday: Marktplatz Oerlikon, one of the largest markets in the city
  • Saturday: Lindenplatz in Altstetten, plus the Rathausbrücke market, currently relocated to Stadthausquai by the Münsterbrücke
  • On Saturdays markets run until noon, until 12.30 p.m. at the temporary Rathausbrücke location

Markets publish no promo flyer; every stall sets its own prices. Seasonal vegetables, fruit and specialities can be attractively priced, but they are not automatically cheaper. The fair comparison is the unit price per kilo or litre, and with Rappn you have the supermarkets' current promo prices on your phone while standing at the stall.

All seven major chains are present: Migros, Coop and Denner with dense city networks, Aldi Suisse and Lidl with several city stores and many canton locations, Aligro with its wholesale-style market in Schlieren, and Otto's in Oerlikon, Altstetten and more canton locations. Denner is even headquartered in Zurich.

What day do grocery deals start in Zurich?

Since 5 February 2026, the weekly promotions at Migros and Denner start on Thursday, and Coop has run this rhythm since early 2025. All three are valid until Wednesday of the following week. Aldi Suisse adds new offers on Monday as well, and Lidl usually rotates on Thursday too (sources: corporate.migros.ch, denner.ch, coop.ch).

Are Migros deals in Zurich different from other regions?

Is Aligro in Schlieren open to private shoppers?

Yes. Aligro is a wholesale-style market but explicitly open to private customers without any trade card.
