How does Rappn compare offers?

Rappn compares the offers the chains publish themselves: by canton, with their validity dates and, where the pack size allows, the unit price. The offers are updated daily as the chains publish them. Rappn shows promotions only, not regular shelf prices, and names no overall winner among the chains. The chain pages carry a source line that names the chain that published the offers and the day Rappn read them.

Rappn compares the current promotions of 7 Swiss retailers, updated daily: free, no subscription.

Rappn’s method comes down to five rules, explained one by one in the sections below:

  • Only what the chains publish. Promotions, not regular shelf prices.
  • One canton at a time. Prices and availability depend on the canton.
  • Dates as the chains state them. If a date is missing, Rappn does not make one up.
  • A unit price only when it adds up. It has to match the price and pack size next to it.
  • No verdicts. No overall winner among the chains and no promised saving in percent.

Updated October 2026. The start days of the weekly offers were checked on 25 September 2026 against the chains’ own pages, flyers and press releases and the Swiss press. The rest describes how Rappn’s offer pages work.

Where do the offers come from?

From the chains themselves. Rappn collects the promotions that seven Swiss chains publish (they are listed further down) and updates them daily as the chains publish them. Rappn is not a shop and sets no prices: the promotion prices are the chains’ own.

The chain pages carry a source line that names the chain that published the offers and the day Rappn read them. That tells you which day you are looking at, and you can check it against the chain’s flyer or website.

This is the Rappn home screen. Open the offers from here and check, offer by offer, the canton, the dates and, where the pack size allows, the unit price. Tap the tabs.

What counts as an offer, and what does not?

An offer is a promotion a chain has published, with the mechanic it states: a direct discount, a quantity discount, a bundle, a free gift or a discount on a whole range. Everyday prices do not count: the pages show promotions only, not regular shelf prices. If the chain also states the normal price, the offer shows it next to the promotion price.

The percentage of a direct discount appears only when the normal price it was calculated from is shown too: without it, it would be a number you cannot check. If a condition comes with the offer, such as a minimum quantity, online only or a loyalty card, the condition is shown on the offer.

Why does the canton matter?

Because prices and availability depend on the chain, the canton and the promotion period. A chain page shows one canton at a time and names it in its first sentence: the list and the number of offers apply to that canton. In the app you can filter offers by canton (all 26 are covered) and by postcode. The guide why the same item costs different amounts in Switzerland explains why the same item does not cost the same in every shop.

How are the dates read?

Each chain starts its new offers on a day of its own and can change that day: that is why the table carries the date of the last check.

Start day of the new offers and validity for each chain, by the weekly rule checked on 25 September 2026 against the chains’ own pages, flyers and press releases.
ChainNew offersValid
Migrosevery Thursdayuntil Wednesday
Coopevery Thursdayuntil Wednesday
Aldi Switzerlandevery Monday and Thursdaymostly while stocks last
Lidl Switzerlandevery Thursday and every Mondayuntil Wednesday; Monday offers until Wednesday or Saturday, depending on the item
Dennerevery Thursdayuntil Wednesday
Aligroevery Mondayuntil Saturday
Otto’severy Tuesdayno end date, while stocks last

On the chain pages we write “most valid until …” only when more than half of the offers end on that very day. If a part of the offers runs longer, the page says so and adds the later date, for example “about half of the deals run until …”. When no day has a majority, the page describes the chain’s usual promotion week or makes no validity claim at all, rather than guess. Where a chain gives no end date, such as “while stocks last”, Rappn shows none either.

The next offers are labelled “expected” when the day follows from the weekly rule and “already published” when the data already holds that day’s offers. Around public holidays and at the turn of the year, chains may move their start: if the data does not confirm it, the page gives the usual weekday and “date as per flyer” instead of inventing a date. When in doubt, the chain’s flyer for that week is the one that counts. The calendar for the whole year is in the guide to the promotion calendar.

What happens to an offer that has ended?

An offer stays in the lists until its last valid day; from the day after, it is in no Rappn list any more. If you open the old link to an ended offer, you no longer see it: the page points to the chain’s current offers.

How is the unit price worked out?

Where the pack size allows, Rappn compares offers per unit: per kilo, per litre, per piece or, for detergents, per wash. For packs under 100 g or 100 ml the price is given per 100 g or 100 ml, because a price per kilo would mislead.

The unit price appears only when it agrees with the price and pack size next to it. If the figures contradict each other, or the pack size does not allow the check, no unit price is shown: for a comparison, a unit price that contradicts the other data is worse than none. Non-food items such as furniture and household packs of 20 kg or 20 l and above have no unit price. How to read a price per kilo next to a price per 100 g is covered in the guide to the unit price per litre and kilo.

What does Rappn not claim?

Rappn names no overall winner among the chains and promises no savings in percent. The result depends on the products, quantities, date and offer conditions, and a lower price in one dated basket does not show that a chain costs less in general: a dated comparison holds only for the products and chains it includes.

No measured saving applies to every household. The calculator on the website works with a percentage that you choose yourself, as an illustrative example: it is neither a promised nor an observed result.

Is Rappn independent of the chains?

Yes. No chain owns Rappn, controls it or influences how Rappn orders offers in its main comparison views. Rappn has no commercial agreements, sponsorships or paid placements with any Swiss retailer and shows no ads from retailers. It does not sell groceries: it is a comparison platform, not a retailer. Who is behind Rappn is on the About Rappn page.

Where does the method have limits?

  • Incomplete list. If Rappn cannot read a chain’s whole list at that moment, the page says so and shows a selection of the offers, without presenting the number as the chain’s whole week.
  • Canton without data. If our data holds no offers of a chain for a canton, the page says so as a fact about the data, not about the chain, or shows another canton and names it.
  • Start days. The table reflects the check of 25 September 2026: chains can change their days, and around public holidays they may move them.

How do I report a mistake?

If an offer, a date or a price does not match what the chain shows, write to us through the contact page: name the chain, the canton, the offer and the day you saw it, so we can check it.

What can you check yourself?

Before you choose an offer, look at five things:

  • The date. From the start day to the last valid day, or “while stocks last”.
  • The canton. Prices and availability can differ from one canton to another.
  • The pack size. A big pack and a small one cannot be compared by eye.
  • The unit price. Per kilo, per litre or per piece, when it is shown.
  • The conditions. Minimum quantity, online only, loyalty card.

The offers pages of the chains and the app put the date, the pack size, the unit price and the conditions next to each offer, as far as the data allows. The app is free, with no subscription, for iOS and Android.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do Rappn’s offers come from, and how often are they updated?

From the promotions the chains publish themselves: Rappn collects those of seven Swiss chains and updates them daily as the chains publish them. The source line on the chain pages names the chain that published the offers and the day Rappn read them.

Does Rappn show regular shelf prices?

No, promotions only. If the chain also states the normal price, the offer shows it next to the promotion price, but the regular prices of products that no chain has on promotion are not in the list.

Does Rappn say which supermarket is the best value?

No. Rappn names no overall winner among the chains: the result depends on the products, quantities, date and offer conditions, and a dated comparison holds only for the products and chains it includes. To compare two offers, check the date, the canton, the pack size, the unit price and the conditions.

Why does the canton matter?

Because prices and availability depend on the chain, the canton and the promotion period. A chain page shows one canton at a time and names it in its first sentence; in the app you can filter by canton and by postcode, with a filter for all 26 cantons.

Do the chains pay Rappn or influence the offers?

No. No chain owns Rappn, controls it or influences how Rappn orders offers in its main comparison views. Rappn has no commercial agreements, sponsorships or paid placements with any Swiss retailer, and it is free, with no subscription.

How do I report a wrong offer or date?
