Maximizing Cumulus and Supercard Points: What Actually Pays?
A point is worth about one centime: 500 Cumulus points become a blue CHF 5 voucher per migros.ch, and 100 superpoints equal CHF 1.00 per the SuperCards guide (May 2026) and liebefinanzen.ch (20 July 2026). The money sits in the multiplier coupons you must activate in the app before shopping — and in the shelf price you compare first.

A Cumulus point and a Coop superpoint are each worth roughly one centime. Migros states it plainly: once you have collected 500 Cumulus points, they are converted into a blue Cumulus voucher worth 5 francs (migros.ch, retrieved August 2026) — CHF 0.01 per point. For superpoints, the SuperCards loyalty-programme guide (as of May 2026) and the personal-finance guide liebefinanzen.ch (20 July 2026) independently give the same conversion: 100 points = CHF 1.00. The base rate in both programmes is therefore about one percent, and the real money is not there. It sits in the multiplier coupons you have to activate in the app before you reach the till.

What is a Cumulus point actually worth?
One centime, once you do the arithmetic. The 500-point threshold is stated word for word on migros.ch, and the Migros partner VOI confirms it independently: 500 points give a voucher worth 5 francs. The SuperCards guide (as of May 2026) puts the point value directly at «CHF 0,01 (1 Rappen)», notes that no Cumulus points are given on alcohol and tobacco, and describes the payout as a CHF 5 voucher per 500 points, issued automatically every two months by post or in the app.
So with Cumulus the payout is scheduled rather than instant: blue Cumulus vouchers arrive every two months and spend like cash in Migros stores (migros.ch). If you pay digitally you also have to unlock them first, per the Migros page on digital Cumulus vouchers. A voucher you never unlock is a discount you never take.
Cumulus, Supercard, Lidl Plus, Denner: what does each card give?
| Metric | Cumulus (Migros) | Supercard (Coop) | Lidl Plus (Lidl Schweiz) | Denner |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Base rate | 1 point per CHF 1 spent (SuperCards guide, as of May 2026) | 1 point per CHF 1 spent (SuperCards guide, as of May 2026) | 1 Lidl point per CHF 1 of purchase value, maximum 5 purchases per day (lidl.ch, August 2026) | no points programme (denner.ch, August 2026) |
| Point value | 500 points = blue voucher worth CHF 5.00 (migros.ch) | 100 points = CHF 1.00 (SuperCards guide, May 2026; liebefinanzen.ch, 20 July 2026) | no published franc value per point (lidl.ch) | – |
| Redemption | Blue vouchers every 2 months, unlocked in the app if used digitally (migros.ch) | Rewards shop, Miles & More or a gift card from 1,000 to 10,000 points (liebefinanzen.ch) | Points exchanged for a coupon of your choice (lidl.ch) | The promotion price applies at the till for everyone, no card needed |
| Multipliers | Coupons in the Migros app; documented examples are «20x Punkte» and «2-fache Cumulus-Punkte»; bonus coupons apply from a purchase of Fr. 100.- (migros.ch) | 10x superpoint coupons, each marked «3x einlösbar», listed in August 2026 with validity to 26.08.26 and 09.09.26 (preispirat.ch) | Weekly app coupons (lidl.ch) | Weekly promotions and the Wochenend-Knaller instead of coupons |
| Activation required? | Yes — activate every coupon you want to use before shopping (migros.ch) | Yes, codes must be tapped in the app before the purchase (liebefinanzen.ch, 20 July 2026) | Yes, coupons activated in the app (lidl.ch) | No |
| Expiry | Membership lapses after 24 months of inactivity (SuperCards, May 2026) | Points lapse after 12 months of inactivity, and a single purchase at any partner resets the clock (SuperCards, May 2026) | Points expire 24 months after they are credited (SuperCards, May 2026; lidl.ch) | – |
Two notes on the honesty of this table. Aldi Suisse, Aligro and Otto's are absent because we found no solid source on their loyalty schemes, and a gap beats an assertion. And the Coop figures come from named, dated third parties, not from Coop itself.
Where do you actually earn Cumulus points?
Migros puts it this way: show your card on every purchase at Migros and at around 15 Migros partners. The decisive detail is that the rate differs by partner — without knowing that, people routinely overestimate what a stop at the filling station earns.
| Where | Rate per the SuperCards guide (as of May 2026), cross-checked against the partner overview on migros.ch (August 2026) |
|---|---|
| Migros supermarket | CHF 1 = 1 point |
| Migros Online | CHF 1 = 1 point, alcohol excluded |
| Migros Partner and VOI (retailers carrying the Migros range) | CHF 1 = 1 point, on Migros products only |
| Ex Libris | CHF 1 = 1 point |
| OBI | CHF 1 = 1 point |
| migrolino | CHF 2 = 1 point across the range |
| Migrol | Fuel: 2 litres = 1 point |
| Cumulus credit card (Visa) | 1 point per CHF 1 at Migros and 1 point per CHF 3 elsewhere, i.e. 0.33% cashback |
This table is deliberately shorter than older partner lists. The SuperCards guide itself warns that Migros has restructured several subsidiaries and advises checking the Cumulus website for what is currently accepted. Partners whose membership or earn rate we could not confirm against a checkable source in August 2026 have been dropped rather than guessed at — the binding list is always the one on the Cumulus site.
The credit-card row is the most misread one: outside Migros it takes three francs to earn a point, roughly 0.33 percent. A card you pull out everywhere "for the points" therefore earns a third of what the Migros shelf gives you.
Does Denner accept Cumulus points?
No. The services overview on denner.ch in August 2026 lists the newsletter, the Denner app, the Aktionsalarm price alert, a shopping list, Denner WhatsApp, the "Denner Woche" leaflet subscription and gift cards — but no customer card and no points programme. In the Migros forum Migipedia, the Cumulus info line answered the question directly: Denner is a Migros subsidiary that does not take part in the Cumulus programme. Denner belongs to the Migros group, but the points do not apply there.
In practice: at Denner the promotion price is the entire discount, and you lose nothing by arriving without a card. Timing matters more instead — since 5 February 2026 Migros, Coop and Denner start their weekly promotions on Thursday, while Aldi Suisse and Lidl Schweiz release offers on Monday and on Thursday.
How do 10x and 20x coupons work, and can you stack them?
With Cumulus the order of operations is official: check in the Migros app which Cumulus coupons are available before you shop and activate every one you want to use (migros.ch). The Migros help centre adds what happens next: once the redemption conditions are met, activated coupons are applied automatically at payment. Migros names «20x Punkte» and doubled Cumulus points among its examples, and bonus coupons apply from a purchase of CHF 100.
On the Coop side the multipliers are just as visible day to day: in August 2026 the voucher overview on preispirat.ch listed several 10x superpoint coupons, each flagged «3x einlösbar», with validity to 26.08.26 and 09.09.26. Here too, per liebefinanzen.ch (20 July 2026), the codes have to be activated in the app before you pay.
On stacking: we found no general, official rule from Migros or Coop, so we assert none. The SuperCards guide (as of May 2026) summarises the practice as: coupons can be combined, and if no restriction is printed on one, you can use several at once. Only the text on the individual coupon is binding — that is where it says whether it combines with other coupons, with promotions, or requires a minimum spend.
Does a 10x coupon beat a lower shelf price?
This is the uncomfortable part, and the part where we are the referee rather than the fan. Work it through: an activated 10x coupon on a CHF 100.00 shop yields 1,000 points. At 100 points per franc that is CHF 10.00 instead of CHF 1.00. A 20x coupon on the same amount would come to CHF 20.00. That is real money, but deferred money: it counts only on the day you actually redeem the points or the blue voucher.
And it counts only if you would have shopped there anyway. If the same basket is hypothetically CHF 12.00 cheaper at another chain this week, the 10x coupon leaves you CHF 2.00 down. If it is only CHF 4.00 cheaper, the coupon wins. Without a multiplier the picture is starker still: one percent in points almost never closes a price gap.
Honestly, it depends — on your actual basket this week, not on a rule of thumb. That is exactly why you look at the current promotions from seven chains (Migros, Coop, Aldi Suisse, Lidl, Denner, Aligro, Otto's) side by side and live in Rappn, with over 10,000 current offers and unit-price comparison per kilo or litre so pack sizes cannot mislead you.
Which point traps quietly cost you money?
Four, all documented. First, the category exclusions: per the SuperCards guide (May 2026) there are no Cumulus points on alcohol and tobacco, and the official partner overview states that Migros Online awards them excluding alcohol. Second, the halved rates at migrolino and Migrol, where two francs or two litres earn one point. Third, inactivity: the SuperCards guide gives 24 months without activity for Cumulus membership and 12 months for superpoints, and Lidl points expire 24 months after they are credited. Fourth, the digital voucher you never unlocked.
None of these traps is dramatic on its own. Together they explain why the return people feel and the return they get drift so far apart.
Where should you keep all these cards?
If multipliers only count when the card is scanned at the till, the most banal optimisation is having the card on you. Which Swiss loyalty cards are worth carrying, and how to bundle them digitally, is covered in our Swiss loyalty card wallet overview; the head-to-head of the two big programmes sits in Cumulus vs Supercard. In Rappn you can keep your loyalty cards in the built-in wallet and pull them up at the till, alongside your shared shopping lists and receipt scanning.
What does this change about your shopping week?
Apply the order the sources imply. On Wednesday evening, open the Migros app and the Supercard app and activate every coupon you could plausibly use — it costs nothing, and for Cumulus migros.ch makes it an explicit condition. On Thursday the weekly promotions start at Migros, Coop and Denner, and a fresh round also lands at Aldi Suisse and Lidl Schweiz. Then decide first where this week's basket is good value, and only afterwards which multiplier rides on top.
Next step: activate your coupons tonight, and set a price alert in Rappn on the five products you buy every week. Then the 10x coupon lands on an already low price instead of the other way round. Rappn is free, available in four languages, and paid for by no retailer.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Cumulus point worth?
About one centime. Migros states on migros.ch that once you have collected 500 Cumulus points they are converted into a blue Cumulus voucher worth 5 francs (retrieved August 2026). The Migros partner VOI confirms the same threshold, and the SuperCards guide (as of May 2026) puts the point value at «CHF 0,01 (1 Rappen)». For Coop superpoints, the SuperCards guide (May 2026) and liebefinanzen.ch (20 July 2026) both give 100 points = CHF 1.00.
Can you collect Cumulus points at Denner?
No. The denner.ch services overview in August 2026 lists the newsletter, Denner app, Aktionsalarm, shopping list, WhatsApp, the "Denner Woche" subscription and gift cards, but no customer card and no points programme. In the Migros forum Migipedia the Cumulus info line answered that Denner is a Migros subsidiary that does not take part in the Cumulus programme. At Denner the saving comes from the promotion price, with promotions starting on Thursday since 5 February 2026.
Which Cumulus partners are there and how many points do they give?
Per migros.ch you collect on every purchase at Migros and at around 15 Migros partners. Confirmed rates (SuperCards guide, as of May 2026, cross-checked against the partner overview on migros.ch in August 2026): Migros supermarket and Migros Online at CHF 1 = 1 point (online excluding alcohol), Migros Partner and VOI at CHF 1 = 1 point on Migros products only, Ex Libris and OBI at CHF 1 = 1 point, migrolino at CHF 2 = 1 point, Migrol at 1 point per 2 litres of fuel, plus the Cumulus credit card at 1 point per CHF 1 inside Migros and 1 point per CHF 3 elsewhere. The SuperCards guide notes that Migros has restructured several subsidiaries, so the binding partner list is the one on the Cumulus site.
How do 10x superpoint coupons work at Coop?
They are digital coupons you activate in the Supercard app before paying; without activation they are not credited, per liebefinanzen.ch (20 July 2026). In August 2026 the voucher overview on preispirat.ch listed several 10x superpoint coupons, each flagged «3x einlösbar» (redeemable three times), with validity to 26.08.26 and 09.09.26. The exact conditions are printed on the individual coupon.
Can you combine Cumulus coupons with promotions?
We found no general, official rule from Migros or Coop, so we assert none. The SuperCards guide (as of May 2026) describes the practice as: if no restriction is printed on the coupon, you can use several at once. Only the text on the individual coupon is binding. What is documented at Migros is that coupons must be activated before shopping and are then redeemed automatically at payment once the redemption conditions are met (Migros help centre).
Is a 10x coupon better than a lower price at another chain?
It depends on the basket. A 10x coupon on a CHF 100.00 shop yields 1,000 points, roughly CHF 10.00 instead of CHF 1.00. If the same basket is CHF 12.00 cheaper elsewhere this week you still lose; if it is only CHF 4.00 cheaper, the coupon wins. Without a multiplier, one percent in points almost never closes a price gap. So compare the current promotions across the seven chains first, then add the coupon on top.
