The Magallanes is an exceptional red wine from the Ribera del Duero that convinces with elegance, depth, and impressive origin characteristics. The grapes come from over 100-year-old vines that grow at around 1000 meters above sea level. Gravelly-sandy soils as well as the cool nights at this altitude give the wine a remarkable freshness and intense fruit, as is otherwise often only found in significantly more expensive wines. The production is limited to only around 5000 bottles. In the glass, the wine shows itself in a deep ruby red. In the nose, complex aromas of dark fruits unfold, accompanied by spicy notes and fine wood. On the palate, it presents itself powerfully and elegantly at the same time, with juicy extract, fine-grained tannins, and a lively freshness. The mineral hints and the long, multi-layered finish underline the origin of this characterful wine. With the Magallanes, César Muñoz creates an expressive Ribera del Duero that masterfully combines the balance between power, finesse, and freshness and is excellent for strong meat dishes, game, or matured cheese.
