El Nido
The first steps of this winery began to bear fruit at the end of 2001, as a result of the cooperation agreement between the Gil family and Chris Ringland, one of the best Australian oenologists. The first harvest to be marketed was that of the 2002 vintage under the El Nido and Clio brands. The winery is located in the valley of Aragona, 10 km north of the city of Jumilla. The vineyards, which are located near the winery, are mostly laid out on very calcareous and stony soils between 700 and 850 m above sea level. The grapes from which El Nido is made come from 12 hectares of Cabernet-Sauvignon vineyards and 32 hectares of very old Monastrell vineyards with very low yields.
