Banfi
Anyone who gets their hands on a Brunello from the Banfi winery's vineyards can enjoy a top-class wine. The area was identified as the most suitable for Sangiovese grapes after zoning studies that began in the 80s. The climatic conditions favor a late ripening of the grapes, which provides excellent quality. After the harvest, the grapes were subjected to alcoholic fermentation. This took place at a controlled temperature of 27-29°C in French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks. This was followed by aging for 30 months in 30% French and 70% American barriques. The first vintage of this majestic red wine from Tuscany appeared in 2007. Banfi was founded by the two brothers John and Harry Mariani in 1978. The estate lies at the confluence of the Orcia and Ombrone rivers and stretches along the southern slopes of Montalcino over 7,100 hectares of land. The soils are extremely rich and uniform, structured with clay and calcium, which favors optimal growth conditions for the vine and the complexity of the red wines.
