Cheaper Online Groceries in Switzerland: the 5 Levers and the Real Delivery Fees

Saving money on online groceries in Switzerland starts with one move: cancel out the delivery fee before you compare a single product price. On coop.ch the minimum order is CHF 99.90, delivery costs CHF 7.90, drops to CHF 4.90 from CHF 160 and is free from CHF 200 (per coop.ch, accessed August 2026). At Migros Online the minimum order is CHF 99 per Blick (5 May 2026), delivery costs CHF 7.90 and still CHF 2.90 once the basket passes CHF 200. At ALDI now you can order from CHF 50, but per aldi-now.ch (accessed August 2026) a picking fee of 2.5 percent of the goods value and CHF 1.50 for transport material are added on top of the delivery fee.

That gives you five levers, and there are no others: 1. hit the free or reduced-fee threshold instead of ordering just below it, 2. collect instead of having it delivered, 3. read the surcharges that sit next to the delivery fee, 4. pick a low-demand delivery slot, 5. use the provider's own first-order offer once, properly.

The most expensive online mistake is not which products you pick, it is how big the order is. Order CHF 105 on coop.ch and you pay CHF 7.90 for delivery per coop.ch; plan two weeks for the same household, order CHF 200, and you pay nothing. That is CHF 7.90 saved on a shop you were going to do anyway. Migros Online works the same way, but the staircase stops higher: per Blick (5 May 2026), CHF 7.90 from the CHF 99 minimum and CHF 2.90 from CHF 200 — the fee never disappears entirely there.

The second lever is collection. The Migros media release of 18 October 2021 describes PickMup as a service at more than 700 pickup locations where orders are delivered «free of charge» to a location of your choice, returns included. At Coop, collection also carries no delivery fee per coop.ch. If a pickup point sits on your commute, this is the only lever that takes the fee to zero without forcing you to buy more.

What does delivery cost at Migros Online, coop.ch, ALDI now and Denner?

Two things stand out. First, the lowest minimum order does not produce the lowest total. ALDI now lets you order from CHF 50 but charges CHF 11.90 for delivery per aldi-now.ch — roughly a 24 percent mark-up on a fifty-franc basket, before the picking fee. Second, «free delivery» appears in this table only at coop.ch from CHF 200 and at Denner from CHF 400. Everything else is a reduction, not a zero.

Which surcharges are added on top of the delivery fee?

The delivery fee is not the whole mark-up. This is exactly the part a quick answer box almost always leaves out.

Do the arithmetic once instead of skimming the table. A CHF 100 basket at ALDI now costs CHF 6.90 delivery per aldi-now.ch, plus 2.5 percent picking fee (CHF 2.50), plus CHF 1.50 transport material: about CHF 10.90 on top. Want it at the apartment door rather than the front door? That is CHF 5.00 more, per the same source. On slots, patience pays: foodaktuell.ch and konsider.ch reported on 5 May 2023 that Migros Online charges one to two francs extra for heavily used windows, while weekday-morning slots and wide windows carry no surcharge.

The subscription deserves the same arithmetic. saldo noted in September 2021 that the Lieferpass only removes the fee if you order at least CHF 99 every time anyway — a subscription does not replace the minimum order.

Are there official vouchers or first-order discounts?

Yes, but few, and they come from the provider itself rather than from coupon aggregator sites. coop.ch runs its own page on free delivery for new customers: per coop.ch it applies only to people without an existing coop.ch account and without a previous order, requires a minimum order of CHF 99.90 and is valid for 30 days after registration. It is a one-shot lever — so plan a suitably large first order rather than splitting it.

There are also time-limited arrangements for specific groups. The Swiss Federation of the Blind and Visually Impaired announced on 20 March 2026 that Coop waives delivery fees for its members from an order value of CHF 99.90, running to spring 2027. If you belong to an organisation, asking about arrangements like this pays better than any hunt for promo codes.

Do Lidl or Denner deliver groceries in Switzerland?

No — and it is worth saying, because both names keep surfacing on this search. lidl.ch offers online (accessed August 2026) among other things Lidl Connect, Lidl Reisen and gift cards, plus the «Click&Pick» reservation function for in-store collection. No grocery home delivery is described on the page.

Denner runs an online shop with its own delivery conditions — minimum order CHF 50 excluding fees, CHF 9.90 delivery, free from CHF 400, shipped by Planzer Paket across Switzerland and to Liechtenstein — but it is the wine and specialities shop, not a supermarket delivery service for the weekly shop.

At Migros there is movement alongside all this: watson.ch reported on 5 May 2026 that more than 10,000 Migros products can now be ordered through the Just Eat app, delivered within 60 minutes from the local store, with same-day availability in around 30 Swiss cities. It is no substitute for the big weekly shop, but it is a genuine option for the forgotten ingredient — on the platform's fees, not on Migros Online's.

When is online cheaper than the shop, and when is it not?

Online wins reliably in three situations: heavy staples and drinks, where carrying is the real problem; households without a car, which would otherwise be counting a taxi or several trips; and plannable stock-ups, where you deliberately aim at the CHF 200 threshold.
