Description

The Etna Rosso from Donnafugata is a structured wine that shines in the glass with a brilliant ruby red color. The vineyards are located on the north side, in the Montelaguardia area, which is rich in minerals. It was harvested by hand from the Nerello Mascalese grape variety in crates and fermented at a temperature of 25°C. It then matured for 14 months. Subsequently, it matured for 14 months in French oak barrels before being released on the market. The Donnafugata winery was founded in 1983 and the name reminds us that Queen Maria Carolina found refuge in the hilly area of Belice, in Sicily, after her expulsion by Napoleonic troops. Donnafugata has been managed by the Rallo family and was one of the first wineries in Sicily to recognize the great potential of the terroir.
