How do digital Cumulus coupons work in the Migros app?
The biggest personal discounts are not in the flyer, they are in the digital Cumulus coupons. According to cumulus.migros.ch, you activate them before shopping in the "Coupons" section of your wallet in the Migros app or on the web. At the till you simply show your Cumulus card (digital or physical) and the activated coupon is redeemed automatically. The catch: a coupon only counts if you activated it before you shopped.
A coupon can be a price reduction (for example a 20% benefit or a CHF 10 benefit) or extra Cumulus points (for example 20x points). The blue Cumulus vouchers you earn from collected points are also available digitally and are redeemed the same way. Best habit: activate your coupons first, then check the weekly deal, because the two can often be combined.
Tip: Before you drive out, quickly compare the Migros deal price with Coop, Aldi, Lidl and Denner in Rappn. That tells you instantly whether the promotion really is the week's best price or whether another retailer is cheaper right now.
M-Budget and Tiefpreise: the permanent savings levers
Not every good price is a time-limited deal. The own-brand M-Budget line is the permanently cheap everyday range, and Migros says it stays, even though some former M-Budget items are now sold under the Migros house brand. In parallel, Migros introduced Tiefpreise (low prices): more than 1,000 popular everyday products were permanently cut to discounter level. Migros calls this a low-price guarantee and says it is investing roughly CHF 2.5 billion in price cuts, assortments and stores (source: Migros Corporate Newsroom). Supermarket chief Peter Diethelm essentially said there should be no reason left to go to a discounter.
