Migros Restaurant Prices: What a Meal Actually Costs This Week

A Migros Restaurant is a self-service canteen inside or beside the store: you take a tray, build your meal at the buffets and serving counters, and pay at the till at the end. In the official menu plan of the Migros Zurich cooperative for the week of 3 to 7 August 2026 (week 32), lunch menus cost between CHF 16.50 and CHF 19.50, the «Grill-Combo» including a PET drink costs between CHF 14.90 and CHF 19.90, and the vegetarian buffet is priced at CHF 3.60 per 100 grams. At Coop Restaurant the «Sparmenü» budget menu costs CHF 9.95 per coop-restaurant.ch (August 2026) and is available from 11.30 to 13.30. Prices and range vary by cooperative and by site — the board in the restaurant is what counts.

How much does a meal at a Migros Restaurant cost?

Migros does not publish a nationwide price list. It publishes a weekly menu plan as a PDF for each regional cooperative, and that is the only solid, dated source. The plan of the Genossenschaft Migros Zürich for calendar week 32 of 2026 lists five lunch menus priced from CHF 16.50 to CHF 19.50 and five «Grill-Combo» plates from CHF 14.90 to CHF 19.90, with the combo including a PET drink of your choice according to the document.

Two lines in the same document clear up most of the confusion. The footnote «Nur in grösseren Restaurants können alle Menüs angeboten werden» means only the larger restaurants can offer the full range. And the «Klassiker» section is on offer «täglich bis Ladenschluss», daily until the store closes: arrive late in the afternoon and the day's menus may be gone, but the classics will not be.

That prices are set regionally becomes obvious the moment you look at another cooperative. The menu plan of the Genossenschaft Migros Ostschweiz for the week of 4 to 9 August 2025 had a category of its own, the «Mittags-Hit» at CHF 10.50, alongside «Mittags-Menus» from CHF 13.50 to CHF 18.50. Those are August 2025 prices from a different cooperative, so not a like-for-like comparison with Zurich in 2026 — but they show that menu categories and price tiers differ by region.

How does self-service work at Migros and Coop restaurants?

The routine is the same at both and has nothing in common with a waited restaurant: take a tray, assemble at the counters, pay at the till, find a table, clear your own dishes at the end. Coop describes its own format on coop-restaurant.ch as combining the pleasure of varied buffets with the speed of a self-service restaurant, plus live-cooking stations where dishes are prepared in front of guests.

You pay either by weight or by menu — and that is exactly where a cheap lunch turns into an expensive one. At the Migros Zurich buffet the rate is CHF 3.60 per 100 grams, so 300 grams comes in under the day's menu while 500 grams does not. The tray is not weighed; the salad dressing is.

Two side benefits are officially documented. gastro.migros.ch states that you earn one Cumulus point per franc spent anywhere in Switzerland, and promises free internet of up to two hours via the WiFi hotspots in all Migros Restaurants. For commuters and students the second is often worth more than the first.

How much is the Coop Restaurant budget menu?

Coop states on its own site that it runs «180 Standorte in der ganzen Schweiz» — 180 sites across Switzerland — and publishes exactly one fixed price point: the Sparmenü. In August 2026 coop-restaurant.ch advertised penne all'arrabbiata with beef meatballs at CHF 9.95, with availability «von 11.30 – 13.30 Uhr» and while stocks last. The dish rotates: Coop states that every week the Coop Restaurant offers a different Sparmenü — which is what many people are looking for when they search for a Coop weekly menu.

Breakfast is equally concrete. The breakfast page advertises a «Frühstücks-Combo» at CHF 6.95 with 2 rolls or croissants, 1 hot drink of your choice, 1 portion of jam and 1 portion of butter; a second hot drink costs CHF 2.65. On top of that runs a digital stamp card in the Supercard app: every 11th hot drink is free. For the children's menu Coop names no price, only a gift from the JaMaDu world; the Migros Zurich cooperative, by contrast, prices its children's menu at CHF 8.90 including a surprise.

Migros Restaurant vs Coop Restaurant: what does each one publish?

The table compares what the two operators publish themselves, not the same dish: a CHF 9.95 budget menu and a CHF 17.50 menu of the day are different products in different portion sizes.

How much is a coffee at a Migros or Coop restaurant?

A market benchmark helps place the figures. SRF News reported on 24 November 2025, citing the trade association Cafetiersuisse, that a café crème cost an average of CHF 4.65 in German-speaking Switzerland — 7 centimes more than in 2024 and the sixth increase in a row. Against that backdrop: per Blick (31 March 2026), Coop raised the XL coffee in its 180 restaurants from CHF 4.45 to CHF 4.95 on 23 March 2026, and the 0.5-litre soft drink from CHF 3.65 to CHF 3.75.

At Migros the only officially published coffee price is a bundled one. The Migros Zürich menu plan for week 32/2026 lists, under «Dessert-Hit», a coffee of your choice for CHF 2.90 with patisserie, cake or biscuits. A standalone coffee is not priced. The Eastern Switzerland plan from August 2025 showed the same logic in different packaging: lemon tart plus a hot drink for CHF 5.40.

Where are Migros Restaurants, and when are they open?

Migros Restaurants sit inside or right next to larger branches — city-centre sites such as the Migros on Marktgasse in Bern, or the big shopping centres. Migros publishes no nationwide restaurant count on its gastronomy pages, so none appears here; Coop states 180 sites.

Neither operator commits to nationwide opening hours. Coop points to its own restaurant finder, which shows when each site is open. In practice the restaurants track store hours, and the Migros menu plan confirms this indirectly by saying the classics are available «täglich bis Ladenschluss», daily until the shop closes. Is the restaurant worth it against takeaway or shopping for lunch?

Honestly: it depends, and on things no price list shows. A CHF 9.95 budget menu beats almost any bought lunch if you are already out and have nothing with you. A CHF 19.50 menu of the day, on the other hand, is a restaurant price that a homemade sandwich, a salad from the chilled aisle or last night's leftovers will almost always undercut. And two adults with a child do a completely different sum thanks to the children's menu.

Three things to keep: Migros Restaurant prices are regional, so the cooperative's current menu plan plus the board on site is the only reliable source. The buffet is a weight price, not a menu price — at CHF 3.60 per 100 grams the portion decides the bill. And the cheapest published fixed price point across the two chains is currently the Coop Sparmenü at CHF 9.95, 11.30 to 13.30, changing weekly.
