What defines Migros Ticino
Migros Ticino is the Migros of Italian-speaking Switzerland and describes itself as "100% Ticinese" and the largest private employer south of the Alps. The network spans supermarkets, VOI Migros Partner neighbourhood shops, Vinarte wine stores, restaurants, Take Away outlets and leisure/education offerings (fitness, Club School). The cooperative runs 32 supermarkets and shopping centres (2025).
"Nostrani del Ticino": the regional line
A hallmark is the "Nostrani del Ticino" line with over 300 local products (its own page now says "over 500 items") from more than 50 Ticino producers, from cheese and cured meats to polenta and wine. Migros Ticino has also published the Italian-language weekly "Azione" since 1938.
Economic weight
By its own account (based on a SUPSI study), Migros Ticino reinvests a large share of its value added, around CHF 180 million, or over 40% of turnover, into the regional economy. These figures are the cooperative's own, not independently audited values. As a cooperative, Migros Ticino is owned by its members rather than shareholders, like the whole Migros group, but for shoppers what counts in the end is less the structure than the actual shelf price, which at Migros largely follows national pricing.
