Knospe or EU-organic? The decisive difference
This is the question that causes the most confusion in 2026. On Swiss organic products, Migros Bio still carries the Bio Suisse Knospe – the strictest widely-used organic standard in the country. On imported organic products, Migros switched in August 2024 from the Knospe to the EU-organic standard. In practice: a Swiss organic carrot from Migros is Knospe-certified, while an imported organic banana now only meets the EU-organic minimum. Coop Naturaplan applies the Knospe more consistently – that is the main gap between the two.
What about Alnatura?
A common misconception is that Alnatura is a Migros-only brand. It is not – Alnatura is also sold at Volg, Müller and Rossmann, and Migros is closing its standalone Alnatura stores by the end of 2025. On Migros shelves, however, the Alnatura range stays available.
