How to read the organic deals
- Only real promotions: a promotion counts when the promotion price is below the price before and the product name or brand labels it as organic, for example Bio, Naturaplan, Demeter or Alnatura. Personal care, household and pet products are not counted; organic wine and baby food are.
- A floor: an organic product without an organic word in its name is missed, so the number is more likely too low than too high. It shows what the chains publish as promotions this week, not the size of their organic range.
- Minimum quantity: many organic discounts apply only from 2 or more units. The card says so, and the "No conditions" filter hides these promotions; if you buy just one, you usually pay the normal price.
- Validity: most chains end their weekly promotion on a fixed day. Two of the 7 chains give no end date for most promotions: they run while stocks last.
- Canton: the list on this page shows the promotions in the canton of Zurich. Some promotions are regional; in the app you set your canton or postcode and only see what is valid there.

What one week of organic deals shows: the count of 28 September 2026
On Monday, 28 September 2026, Rappn counted the promotions of the 7 chains with this method. In the canton of Zurich there were about 180 organic groceries with a real price cut at all 7 chains, in the canton of Vaud about 170, in Ticino about 160 at 6 chains. The median discount was 20% in all three cantons, the deepest 44%.
Two patterns stand out. First, the minimum quantity: more than half of the organic promotions in Zurich applied only from 2 to 4 units, and so did 22 of the 28 promotions at 40% or more. Second, the shelves: drinks were the largest group (mostly coffee, tea and iced tea), ahead of tofu and other vegetarian products and oats, flours and muesli. Meat and fish, fruit and vegetables and dairy and eggs were rarer.

How deep are organic discounts, and what does a percentage say?
A discount in percent compares the promotion price with the same chain's price before, not with another chain. Whether an organic product on promotion costs less than a comparable one elsewhere only shows in the price per kilo or litre, which is on the card when the chain supplies it. With a minimum quantity, the per-unit discount only applies when you buy the whole quantity.
For storables, the calendar helps: many products come back on promotion in roughly the same month every year. K-Tipp analysed the promotions of two large retailers over eight years for this (reported by 20 Minuten on 17 January 2026). Organic oil, pasta or tins can be bought in those weeks; for fresh food the offer changes from week to week.
