Nero d'Avola and Nerello Mascalese are the two most common grape varieties grown on the southern Italian Mediterranean island of Sicily. And it is from these two grapes that the Cantine Cellaro Due Lune Nerello Mascalese / Nero d'Avola was assembled. A wonderful cuvée in which the Nero d'Avola grape makes up the larger share. The Cellaro winery is located in the southwest of the island in the municipality of Sambuca di Sicilia (Agrigento), near Lake Arancio. The excellent microclimate, characterized by the southeast location and the proximity to the lake, protects the vines from excessive heat and drought. The regional varieties Grillo, Chardonnay, Nero d'Avola, Nerello, Merlot and Shiraz grow in the approximately 30 hectares of vineyards. Excellent quality products with high typicality are pressed from these varieties. The winery is considered "THE" specialist on the island for the autochthonous and late-ripening red varieties Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Capuccio, as well as for the white grape variety Grillo. The Due Lune owes its name to the lunar cycle, which plays a major role in its creation process. Cantine Cellaro has always worked with the moon and its phases.
