Coop moved its promotion start from Tuesday to Thursday in early 2025 (source: Coop press release, foodaktuell.ch), and Migros followed on 5 February 2026, with deals now running Thursday through Wednesday (source: Migros corporate newsroom). Check the new offers on Thursday morning and you have Switzerland's two biggest retailers freshly on your radar.

Migros Basel: a cooperative of its own
Migros is not a centrally run chain but a federation of ten regional cooperatives. Basel has its own: the Migros Basel cooperative covers Basel-Stadt, Baselland, parts of canton Jura, and Breitenbach and Dornach in canton Solothurn (source: corporate.migros.ch). In 2024 it generated sales of CHF 866 million with around 2,500 employees (source: corporate.migros.ch, Wikipedia).
