Beer deals in Switzerland: promo days at Coop, Denner, Aldi and Lidl at a glance

Beer deals come around in Switzerland practically every week: Denner and Coop refresh their promotions on Thursday, Aldi Suisse launches new offers on Monday and Thursday, and Lidl usually starts on Thursday or Monday. Migros supermarkets sell no alcoholic beer at all. Which six-packs and crates are discounted right now is live in Rappn.

Sources checked regularly: denner.ch, aldi-suisse.ch, lidl.ch, Coop press release via foodaktuell.ch, the Migros press release on the June 2022 alcohol vote, SRF, Sucht Schweiz and the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security (BAZG). This week's exact promo prices are live in the Rappn app, not in this guide.

Where do you find beer deals this week?

Six of the seven big chains sell beer, and four of them discount it on a fixed weekly rhythm. Here is the overview:

ChainPromo rhythmWhat that means for beer
DennerThursday to Wednesday, weekend specials Thursday to Sunday (denner.ch)The beverage heavyweight: a dedicated beer promo section, several brands each week
CoopThursday to Wednesday, Weekend Hits Thursday to Sunday (since January 2025)Its own beer category among the online promotions, often multipacks
Aldi SuisseNew offers on Monday and ThursdayBeer shows up regularly in the twice-weekly offer rounds
LidlWeekly offers usually Thursday or Monday, Super Weekend Friday to SundayBeer in the leaflet depending on the week, sometimes in the Super Weekend
MigrosWeekly promotions, but without alcoholNo alcoholic beer, only alcohol-free beers
AligroNo fixed weekly cycleCash and carry: beer often by the case, handy for parties
Otto'sNo fixed weekly cycleBatch logic: drink offers depend on what comes in

Within the Migros group, Denner is the channel for alcohol and leans heavily on beverages. On denner.ch there is a permanent promo section just for beer, right next to the wine cellar and the weekend specials. The full system is explained in Denner deals this week, and the Coop counterpart in Coop deals this week.

How deep do beer discounts go?

The mechanics are similar across the chains: discounts land mostly on multipacks, meaning six-packs, can trays of 18 or 24 and full crates. Single bottles go on promotion less often. The bigger the pack, the lower the unit price tends to fall in the promo, which is exactly why the price per litre is a better compass than the pack price.

One snapshot as an example, not a promise: in early July 2026, denner.ch listed beer multipacks at 31, 40 and 48 percent off the regular Denner price. Depths like these keep appearing on beer, but they never apply to every brand at once, and no one can predict which week hits which brand.

Important for comparison: a big percentage means little if the reference price is high. Whether a deal is genuinely cheap only shows once you look across chains. Regular price levels for lager, specialty and craft beer are covered in beer prices in Switzerland; this page focuses on the promo rhythm.

Why does Migros run no beer deals?

Migros supermarkets have not sold alcohol since 1928, and that is staying: in June 2022 the members of all ten regional cooperatives voted on whether beer and wine should go on the shelves. A two-thirds majority would have been needed, yet all ten regions said no, with more than 630,000 votes cast. The clearest rejection came in Zurich with over 80 percent, the narrowest in Ticino with around 55 percent (source: Migros press release, SRF, June 2022).

For newcomers to Switzerland this is worth knowing before the first shop. Within the Migros world, beer with alcohol is sold at Denner, at migrolino convenience stores, in VOI partner shops and in the group's online supermarket, just not in the orange supermarket itself (source: SRF, NZZ). Migros branches do stock alcohol-free beers, which the vote never covered.

When is it worth waiting for a beer promotion?

Beer is a classic traffic driver: it keeps well, stores easily and sits on many shopping lists every week. Demand typically peaks around the grilling season, festival weekends and Swiss National Day on 1 August, and retailers like to pick up on those occasions in their leaflets. None of that is a guarantee; each chain decides for itself which week gets a beer promo. If you are flexible on the brand, an offer comes around regularly over the year.

Two legal points belong in every Swiss beer guide. First, youth protection: beer and wine may be sold from age 16, spirits from 18, and in Ticino the limit is 18 for all alcohol (source: Sucht Schweiz). Expect an ID check at the till, promo purchase or not.

Second, the law explains why you see beer deals everywhere but hardly any spirits deals: for spirits, the Swiss Alcohol Act bans promotional advertising with price comparisons, so the classic instead-of prices, and with promised freebies. Beer and wine are fermented drinks and do not fall under that act, which is why they can be advertised with promo prices like any other product (source: BAZG).

Frequently Asked Questions

When do new beer deals start at Coop and Denner?

Both chains switch their weekly promotions on Thursday: the cycle runs Thursday to Wednesday, with extra weekend offers from Thursday to Sunday (source: denner.ch; Coop press release via foodaktuell.ch). At Denner, next week's deals are visible online from Monday. Aldi Suisse launches new offers on Monday and Thursday, and Lidl usually starts on Thursday or Monday.

Why does Migros sell no beer?

Migros supermarkets have been alcohol-free since 1928. In June 2022 the members of all ten regional cooperatives voted against changing that; a two-thirds majority would have been required (source: Migros, SRF). Within the group, alcoholic beer is sold at Denner, migrolino and VOI shops, while Migros branches stock alcohol-free beer only.

How big are the discounts in beer promotions?

It varies by week and brand. Discounts land mostly on multipacks such as six-packs, can trays and crates. As a snapshot, in early July 2026 denner.ch listed beer multipacks at 31 to 48 percent off. Numbers like these are no guarantee; always compare the price per litre across chains, for example in Rappn.

At what age can you buy beer in Switzerland?

Beer and wine may be sold from age 16, spirits from age 18. In the canton of Ticino the limit is 18 for all alcoholic drinks (source: Sucht Schweiz). This applies to promo purchases too, and cashiers will ask for ID when in doubt.

Why are there beer deals but hardly any spirits deals?

The Swiss Alcohol Act sharply restricts advertising for spirits: price comparisons such as instead-of prices and promised freebies are banned (source: BAZG). Beer and wine are fermented drinks and do not fall under that act, so chains can advertise beer with promo prices like any other product.

Where can I see all beer deals in Switzerland this week?

In the Rappn app: it brings together the offers of Migros, Coop, Aldi, Lidl, Denner, Aligro and Otto's and is filterable by product, category, price and canton. You see at a glance which chain currently lists your beer at the best promo price, without flipping through seven flyers.
