Lidl Switzerland does not run a single promotion system but several that overlap week by week: the classic weekly leaflet, the Super Weekend deals from Friday to Sunday, rotating non-food special buys, and the digital coupons plus the points programme inside the Lidl Plus app. Look only at the leaflet and you leave the app discounts on the table; use only the app and you miss the XXL weekly offers. How do Lidl deals this week work in Switzerland?

Lidl Switzerland builds its deals around a weekly rhythm. A new promotional leaflet appears roughly once a week, the big weekly offers typically start on Thursday or Monday, and the Super Weekend runs from Friday to Sunday with the sharpest short-term prices. Alongside this, the non-food themed worlds rotate: kitchen and household one week, garden, sport or clothing the next. These special-buy assortments are short-lived and run only while stocks last, unlike the fixed core range.

The key point: the printed leaflet shows the broad weekly offers, but the personalised coupons exist only digitally in the Lidl Plus app. You need both to capture the full discount. You can get the current leaflet as a PDF on lidl.ch, via the newsletter, or delivered through WhatsApp.

What do the Lidl Plus app and the points programme give you?

Lidl Plus is the digital loyalty card. You scan it at the till and automatically receive the app discounts. There are two tiers: Lidl Plus offers, which apply without activation and can be used multiple times, and coupons, which you must activate first in the app and which are valid only once. According to lidl.ch, it can pay to deliberately save an activated coupon for the weekend.

Since 2 September 2024, Lidl Switzerland has run a points programme, and it was the first Lidl country in the world to roll it out nationwide (per corporate.lidl.ch). Every franc you spend earns 1 Lidl point, regardless of the basket value. The first reward can be redeemed from just 35 collected points, and the rewards catalogue lists more than 250 rewards, chosen either as a product or as a discount on your shopping. This points system replaced the previous discount collector and the scratch cards in the app. According to the corporate.lidl.ch year-in-review (The figures of 2024), the Lidl Plus app passed over one million registrations in Switzerland.

How good are Lidl's promotions really? Discount quality, checked

As of July 2026. "Discount quality" means: how much real saving is inside a deal? Four criteria decide it: true discount depth against the everyday price, breadth of rotation, honest reference prices, and availability. On the honesty of crossed-out prices, Switzerland's federal Price Indication Ordinance applies: a "statt" (instead-of) price must be a genuine price previously charged (source: SECO, Price Indication Ordinance). That applies to Lidl exactly as to every other chain.

Lidl's special feature is the second discount layer: on top of the shelf and leaflet price come the Lidl Plus coupons and offers, plus — since September 2024 — the points (1 point per franc, per corporate.lidl.ch). The discount quality of a Lidl week therefore only shows once you add both layers together: a leaflet price that looks average can become the week's best price with an activated coupon. The reverse also holds: a coupon discount on a product that is cheaper at another chain anyway is no real win. And with the Super Weekend, brevity decides: Friday to Sunday, then the price is gone.

The honest overall verdict: Lidl's discount quality swings with the week and the category, and it depends more than at Aldi or Denner on whether you use the app layer. A blanket "Lidl has the best deals" would be unserious — some weeks the best price sits at Lidl, others at Aldi, Migros, Coop or Denner. Is the Lidl leaflet worth it, or is the app enough?

For an overview of the broad weekly offers, the leaflet is enough.
