Denner Beer: Range, Prices and Promotions Explained

On 3 August 2026 the beer promotion listing on denner.ch held 12 positions; the price anchor is Denner Lagerbier hell IP-SUISSE at CHF 1.– for 50 cl, or CHF 2.– per litre. Since 5 February 2026 the weekly promotion starts on Thursday, with a separate Thursday-to-Sunday weekend block on top. What is actually cheapest this week, you see live in Rappn.

Denner treats beer as its own category, but with a deliberately narrow, fast-rotating range. On 3 August 2026, the beer promotion listing on denner.ch held 12 positions, from the own label through Swiss regional beers to imported lagers (denner.ch, retrieved 3 August 2026). The price anchor at the bottom is the own label: Denner Lagerbier hell IP-SUISSE sits at CHF 1.– for 50 cl, which the same page states as CHF 2.– per litre. Everything above that is branded or imported beer, and it moves almost entirely through the Thursday weekly promotion and the weekend block.

Denner beer range: what is actually on the shelf

Denner runs few beer lines and rotates them hard. The 12 beer positions listed on denner.ch on 3 August 2026 fell into four readable blocks.

Own label as the price anchor. Denner Lagerbier hell IP-SUISSE at CHF 1.– for 50 cl (denner.ch, August 2026). Swiss regional beers. Appenzeller Quöllfrisch hell, Schützengarten Lagerbier hell and Dr. Gab's Swaf Lagerbier hell. Imported lagers. Corona Extra, Sagres, Super Bock and Ichnusa non filtrata. Shandy, alcohol-free and flavoured beer. Bilz Panaché 0.0%, Bilz Stellare 0.0% Arancia Rossa, a 24-pack shandy and Compañeros with tequila flavouring.

One planning detail matters more than any price: part of the range is regional. denner.ch marks Quöllfrisch hell and Schützengarten Lagerbier hell as available only in German- and Italian-speaking Switzerland, and Dr. Gab's Swaf and Sagres as available only in French-speaking Switzerland (denner.ch, August 2026). A beer you see in a flyer need not be on your local shelf.

Denner beer promotions this week: how the cycle runs

Since 5 February 2026, Migros, Coop and Denner start their weekly promotions on Thursday instead of Tuesday (Migros corporate; Denner media release). On beer you see this in two parallel windows on denner.ch: the weekly promotion ran Thursday 30 July to Wednesday 5 August 2026, and the weekend block ran Thursday 30 July to Sunday 2 August 2026 (denner.ch, August 2026).

That weekend block is the one that matters for beer. denner.ch carried the line "20% auf alle Biere" with the qualifier "Auch auf bestehende Aktionspreise! Nicht mit anderen Gutscheinen, Bons und Sonderrabatten kumulierbar" (denner.ch, August 2026) — the discount stacks onto an already-reduced weekly price rather than replacing it, and it does not combine with vouchers or other special discounts. Thursday to Sunday is therefore often worth more than the rest of the week.

The second lever is how deep the weekly cut goes. The steepest beer discount we could document in the 30 July to 5 August 2026 window was Corona Extra in 24 × 50 cl at CHF 35.90 instead of CHF 52.80 — −32%, CHF 2.99 per litre converted (denner.ch, August 2026). Over the weekend, the "20% auf alle Biere" stacked on top of that already-reduced price. If you plan, you take the big case on Thursday, not on Wednesday.

The rest of the market runs on a different clock: Aldi Suisse and Lidl Schweiz drop offers on Monday and Thursday. For beer that means two price resets a week across the chains, not one.

Denner own-label beer: who actually brews it?

This one is documented. On 5 October 2024, 20 Minuten traced the origin of the discounters' cheap own-label beers and attributed Denner Lagerbier hell to the Ramseier brewery in Hochdorf — the same brewery behind, per the same article, Aldi's St. Gotthard, Lidl's Gletscherbräu, Landi's Farmer and the Spar and Volg lagers. Denner's 1291 beer was attributed to the Feldschlösschen brewery in Rheinfelden, and Coop's Prix Garantie lager to the Karlsberg brewery in Homburg, Germany. The prices quoted there (Denner Lagerbier hell CHF 0.75, Denner 1291 CHF 1.25) are as of October 2024.

The IP-SUISSE mark has its own backstory: per Der Schweizer Bauer (30 September 2019), Denner was then seeking IP-SUISSE growers for 50 hectares of brewing barley at CHF 80 per 100 kilograms. The practical consequence: if the same brewery fills the entry-level beer for several chains, the recipe is not what decides your price. The week and the pack size are.

Denner beer prices versus Coop, Migros, Aldi and Lidl

One structural point first: Migros sells no alcoholic beer at all. In June 2022, cooperative members in all ten regions rejected lifting the alcohol ban that has been in the statutes since 1928; more than 630,000 votes were cast, turnout was 29%, and the No vote ranged from 55.3% to 80.3% (corporate.migros.ch, 16 June 2022). The same release announced an alcohol-free "Non" beer from 2023. Within the Migros group, Denner is therefore the beer channel.

We do not fill in numbers we did not see ourselves. An empty cell means the source was unreachable that day — not that there is nothing there.

Is Denner the cheapest for beer?

Honest answer: it depends on the week and on the beer, and the evidence points both ways.

On entry-level beer, Lidl was ahead on the research day. Schweizer Lagerbier in 6 × 50 cl is listed at CHF 3.99 with CHF 1.33 per litre displayed (sortiment.lidl.ch, August 2026), against CHF 1.– and CHF 2.– per litre for Denner Lagerbier hell IP-SUISSE (denner.ch, August 2026). On branded beer the picture flips: Corona Extra at Denner in 24 × 50 cl is CHF 35.90, or CHF 2.99 per litre converted, while sortiment.lidl.ch lists Corona Extra in 6 × 33 cl at CHF 10.49 with CHF 0.53 per 100 ml displayed, or CHF 5.30 per litre converted (August 2026).

And if you assume Denner is the cheapest shop overall, one documented basket test complicates that: RTS "A Bon Entendeur" bought 30 basic foods on the same day at five chains, and the totals per watson.ch (21 April 2024) were CHF 162.05 at Lidl, CHF 166.59 at Aldi, CHF 167.82 at Coop, CHF 170.37 at Migros and CHF 181.67 at Denner. That was a basic-foods basket, not a beer test, so it cannot be transferred to beer — but it does defuse the blanket assumption.

Hence the honest line: which chain has your beer cheapest this week depends on the brand, the pack size and the promotion window — see it live in Rappn instead of guessing. Rappn continuously compares over 10,000 current offers across seven chains (Migros, Coop, Aldi Suisse, Lidl, Denner, Aligro, Otto's) and shows the unit price per litre, so that 24 × 33 cl and 6 × 50 cl become comparable at all.

Quöllfrisch, Corona and Feldschlösschen at Denner

Quöllfrisch. Appenzeller Quöllfrisch hell in 24 × 33 cl at CHF 23.95 instead of CHF 29.30 — −18%, CHF 3.02 per litre converted; per denner.ch available only in German- and Italian-speaking Switzerland (denner.ch, August 2026).

Corona. Corona Extra in 24 × 50 cl at CHF 35.90 instead of CHF 52.80 — −32%, CHF 2.99 per litre converted (denner.ch, August 2026). That is the steepest beer discount we could document in this research. As a reference point from a source we could reach: sortiment.lidl.ch lists Corona Extra in 6 × 33 cl at CHF 10.49 and displays CHF 0.53 per 100 ml, or CHF 5.30 per litre converted (August 2026). Birra Moretti is stocked at Denner, but we could not document a current Denner price on 3 August 2026, so we quote none.

Feldschlösschen. Denner carries Feldschlösschen articles (Original, Pils and alcohol-free) with their own product pages. We could not document a current price on 3 August 2026: the reachable page carried the notice "Achtung, dieses Angebot ist nicht mehr aktuell" (this offer is no longer current). So we quote none. As a reference point from a source we could reach: sortiment.lidl.ch lists Feldschlösschen alcohol-free 24 × 33 cl at CHF 17.95 and displays CHF 2.27 per litre (August 2026).

Cardinal and Valaisanne. No current Denner price could be documented for either on the research day, so we quote none.

Alcohol-free beer at Denner

Alcohol-free is the segment that is growing in the Swiss beer market. In its key figures, the Swiss Brewers Association reports beer consumption in Switzerland of 4,661,624 hectolitres for calendar year 2025, of which 3,631,516 hectolitres were domestically produced; consumption of alcohol-free varieties rose by almost 14% year on year, and 1,091 breweries reported beer-tax-liable output (bier.swiss, key figures, retrieved August 2026).

At Denner that shows up in the 0.0% positions: Bilz Panaché 0.0% in 24 × 33 cl at CHF 28.70 instead of CHF 38.– (−24%, CHF 3.62 per litre converted) and Bilz Stellare 0.0% Arancia Rossa in 6 × 33 cl at CHF 7.45 instead of CHF 9.95 (−25%, CHF 3.76 per litre converted), both denner.ch, August 2026.

What else to know before you buy beer at Denner

Age limits: the Federal Office of Public Health states that selling beer and wine to people under 16 and spirits to people under 18 is prohibited; in canton Ticino all alcoholic drinks are sold only from age 18. This applies to promotional purchases too.

Store network: per a Keystone-SDA report via swissinfo.ch (21 January 2025), Denner is Switzerland's largest discounter with 607 own stores and 263 partner stores. A branch is usually close by, but the range is short — the beer promotion you want is not automatically the one sitting around the corner.

Next step: set a price alert in Rappn on your beer — Quöllfrisch, Corona, Schützengarten or the entry-level lager — and get notified when the price drops. Filter offers by canton so you only see what is genuinely stocked in your language region, and compare the unit price per litre rather than the pack price. Rappn is free, covers seven chains and four languages, and is paid by no retailer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big is the beer range at Denner?

On 3 August 2026, the beer promotion listing on denner.ch held 12 positions, from the own label through Swiss regional beers to imported lagers (denner.ch, retrieved 3 August 2026). The range is deliberately narrow and rotates fast: the own label as the price anchor, Swiss regional beers such as Quöllfrisch and Schützengarten, imported lagers such as Corona Extra, Sagres, Super Bock and Ichnusa, plus shandy and 0.0% positions.

When do new Denner beer promotions start?

Since 5 February 2026, Migros, Coop and Denner start their weekly promotions on Thursday. On denner.ch the weekly promotion ran Thursday 30 July to Wednesday 5 August 2026, and the weekend block Thursday 30 July to Sunday 2 August 2026 (denner.ch, August 2026). Aldi Suisse and Lidl Schweiz drop offers on Monday and Thursday, so across the chains there are two beer price resets per week, not one.

How much is Denner own-label lager?

Denner Lagerbier hell IP-SUISSE was listed at CHF 1.– for 50 cl on denner.ch on 3 August 2026, with a stated per-litre price of CHF 2.–. For context: in its 5 October 2024 investigation, 20 Minuten quoted CHF 0.75 for the same beer and attributed it to the Ramseier brewery in Hochdorf. The price that applies is always the one currently shown on denner.ch.

Is Denner the cheapest place to buy beer in Switzerland?

There is no blanket answer, and the evidence runs both ways. On entry-level beer, Lidl was cheaper on 3 August 2026: Schweizer Lagerbier 6 × 50 cl at CHF 3.99 with CHF 1.33 per litre displayed (sortiment.lidl.ch) against CHF 2.– per litre for Denner Lagerbier hell IP-SUISSE. On branded beer, Denner was well ahead: Corona Extra 24 × 50 cl at CHF 35.90 instead of CHF 52.80, or CHF 2.99 per litre converted (denner.ch), against CHF 10.49 for Corona Extra in 6 × 33 cl at Lidl, or CHF 5.30 per litre converted.

Which Denner beers are only sold in part of Switzerland?

On 3 August 2026, denner.ch marked Appenzeller Quöllfrisch hell (24 × 33 cl, CHF 23.95 instead of CHF 29.30) and Schützengarten Lagerbier hell (24 × 50 cl, CHF 33.95 instead of CHF 43.80) as available only in German- and Italian-speaking Switzerland, and Dr. Gab's Swaf Lagerbier hell (20 × 33 cl, CHF 26.95 instead of CHF 34.–) and Sagres (24 × 50 cl, CHF 29.95) as available only in French-speaking Switzerland (denner.ch, August 2026).

Why does Migros sell no beer while Denner does?

Migros supermarkets have sold no alcohol since 1928, a ban written into the statutes. In June 2022 cooperative members in all ten regions rejected lifting it: more than 630,000 votes, 29% turnout, a No vote between 55.3% and 80.3% (corporate.migros.ch, 16 June 2022). Denner belongs to the Migros group but is a separate chain that the ban does not cover, which is why it is the group's beer channel.
